Latin Honors On My Diploma

Latin Honors On My Diploma

jasmine caraballo started this petition to President, Iona University Seamus Carey

Recently I have received my diploma from Iona College/University. I must admit instead of being excited I am quite disappointed. I am a Concordia transfer student. Therefore, my degree states distinction as oppose to Latin honors that I have received.

To some this may not be a big deal but to me this is everything. I returned to school in my 30’s and I have a huge amount of loans. I am proud of myself for acquiring my bachelors degree even if it was at an untraditional age. But I would appreciate if my diploma show cased my hard work with the Latin honors on it.

I spoke to registrar, provost office and the president of Iona. Unfortunately, they do not want to make an exception to their policy of 56 credits. I have a minimum number of credits with Iona because my school Concordia was sold to them when I was entering my senior year.

The school being sold was out of my control and not my fault. Why should I be penalized? I am very happy with the education I received at Iona even if it was for a short amount of time. I am asking Iona to please make an exception and not penalize me for something that was not in my control. Please update my diploma with the Latin honors I have received.
